Wymondham Music Festival began back in 1996 as a small series of concerts known as Wymondham Music Week. It quickly expanded to become the festival it is today, promoting the performance and appreciation of music, as well as offering music education for local people. We link up with many other local music organisations to promote events throughout the summer months. The festival proper has now expanded to become our festival fortnight, running across the last week of June and the first week of July.

We are a registered charity (reg. charity no. 1081375) run by a committee of volunteers who freely give their time to run and administer many musical events throughout the summer months. We are supported by grants, advertising in our programme, sponsorship of events and by the generosity of our patrons. We have been supported annually by Wymondham Town Council and since 2004 have been a 'Key Service Provider' for South Norfolk Council. From last year we also have a 'Service Level Agreement' with Norfolk County Council. The support of our local authorities is of great importance to us and the regular funding they can provide helps us cover some of the less glamorous costs of running a festival.

Why is Wymondham Music Festival so special?

  • Music for everyone
  • A festival with events all through the summer.
  • Festival Fortnight - two weeks of varied, exciting and uplifting music - always at the end of June and the beginning of July.
  • Diversity - a huge range of music is on offer - concerts, gigs, workshops, live music in the Market Place, Midsummer Jazz Picnic and of course our very own Gig in the Park, this year re-branded ‘Live ‘n’ Gigging.’
  • Accessibility - many events are informal and free, and quite a few take place during the day.
  • Supporting Local Musicians - most of our artists live and work in Norfolk. We provide top quality performances from experienced professionals, show-case local talent and promote our many excellent music societies.
